Paignton Classic and Modern Car Show.

The summer events have finally started. (well the ones i like)

I visited the most popular seafront in the South West for the local classic and modern car show. The cars are not the only thing that interest me with events like this. It’s the people and the atmosphere.

The entrance to the car show. Taken on a Ricoh Caplio r1v.

I took my usual camera combo. An Olympus OMD E-M5 mk1 and a retro Ricoh Caplio R5. I love the older models. The modern bodies are so sharp and crisp they lack and character. As always i carry more than i need. But to be honest, i’m always swapping lens over, so it’s not too bad.

One of my favourite set of images of the day was this Ferrari Testa Rossa. The wife looked happy reading her paper while the husband entertained the crowd of people looking at his pride and joy.

I haven’t been to Paignton for a long time so it was nice to be back somewhere i spent a lot of time as a kid. The fairground on the grass next to the car show was also in full swing. I didn’t bring any of my kids on this trip, they would of absolutely loved the rides.

I didn’t get as many shots as would of liked. I have a habit of getting what i want and off i go. It’s getting better. But unless I’m getting paid to shoot something, i don’t really hang around. I love the feeling of getting home and putting the SD card in the PC and uploading my shots from the day.

Like something out of a movie. Flowers shot on the parcel shelf.

I did give myself one rule, and that was no full car shots. Every one and their dog shoots the full car. I want the details. The owner. The personality. I think that’s what makes me keep picking up the camera. The endless pursuit of who knows what.

So i’ll not bore you too long as i have no idea how to write blogs. I’ve decided i need somewhere to post the long form of my photography. Instagram has been very stale lately. I won’t get started on algorithms and paid ads. They piss me off.

The next blog will be about my trip to Mount Edgcumbe. Another classic and modern show.

Here are a few more shots from my day out.

Have a great week, i hope you enjoyed the shots.
