An evening with live music and lots of content…

If you could of seen the chaps face who’s golf club this was. It was a picture.

I was asked to come down and shoot a Caribbean evening with live music and great food. The location, Dainton Park Golf Course. You don’t need to ask me twice, this is my bread and butter. Using my candid style of shooting, i document the event, not just take pretty photos.

Guests enjoying their food.

With all events, i have no idea how they are going to pan out, especially with sunshine and booze involved. But i can say, it was very much a pleasant evening.

Waiter bringing the food out

The short brief given to me, was to get some imagery for marketing their future events. Easy enough, right.

Drone shots from the event

The gear i took with me for this event:

  • Sony A6400 / 27mm - 56mm - 50-210mm

  • DJI Mavic Mini / ND8

Keeping it simple is how im moving forward, i waste far too much time taking extra gear i don’t need. One camera, 3 lens and the drone.

Guests enjoying their food

My process is fairly straight forward when it comes to shooting an event. Ill find the quiet spot to get set up and start scanning the area. I’m looking for the best light, best background, guests doing their thing, waiters, details, and the location. Which is where the drone comes in trumps.

The waiters serving more food to welcoming guests

Below are a few clips from one my drone. The location is a gold mine for a drone guy like me. But i needed marketing material as well and it’s hard to get with just a drone. So i had to get the drone shots and clips i wanted and then went straight back on to the camera.

Being an avid golfer, i coudln’t pass up a chance to snag a few shots of them on the 18th.

Stop paying for photos that look like a generic corporate snooze fest.

Your audience want to feel what it’s like before they’ve considered coming along. Show them imagery they can feel through the screen. Make them want to be a part of your event.

If you are in the South West area of UK and you need imagery for your events, contact me and let’s create something properly. I do also cover the Uk, not just Plymouth.
